Shake Shack began as a hot dog cart in Manhattan’s Madison Square Park, created by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group to support the park’s first art installation. The cart was successful, with long lines daily for three summers.
In 2004, USHG won the bid to open a permanent kiosk in the park and Shake Shack was born. The modern “roadside” burger stand serves delicious burgers, hot dogs, frozen custard, shakes, beer, wine, and more.
Shake Shack quickly became a neighborhood fixture, welcoming people from all over the city, country, and world who gather to enjoy fresh, simple, high-quality versions of classic foods in a beautiful setting. Shake Shack has since become a well-known burger chain with locations around the world.
